Experience

Prior to his current engagement as Director Erba Global Institute for Medical Technology a Deemed to be University at AMTZ Visakhapatnam ,Prof H Purushotham held several senior leadership positions including DPIIT-IPR Chair Professor at Andhra University, Chairman & Managing Director of National Research Development Corporation (NRDC), and Scientist-G/Advisor at International Advanced Research Centre for Powder Metallurgy and New Materials and Technology Development Board, DST, Govt of India, New Delhi.
Prof Purushotham has more than 40 years’ rich experience across the innovation value chain by working in Government-Industry-Academia, particularly in the areas of Research & Development, IPR Management, Technology Transfer, Innovation, Incubation, Entrepreneurship, Startups, Venture Funding, Teaching, Industry & Academia Partnerships mainly working in the reputed organisations like CSIR, DST, DSIR etc. He has also served as a guest faculty at Anna University, Osmania University and Central Tribal University .
He has facilitated protection of about 600 IPs (Patents/Designs/Trademarks etc) and transferred /commercialized over 500 technologies to startups/MSMEs and large industries in multiple domains in India and abroad. He has presented and published about 100 research papers,3 Patents,6 book chapters, one book to his credit. He has prepared about 75 project reports and obtained funding of about Rs.100 Cr from Govt and Industry for the institutions he has worked. He has also funded/granted about Rs.500 Crs to about 60 projects of industry and academia while working at TDB and NRDC. He served as a member of several committees and member of many professional bodies and significantly contributing to Make in India, Startup India Missions of Govt and Higher Education. He has travelled extensively in India and abroad.
He has received 19 national and international awards for his academic and professional contributions, which includes IP Excellence and Innovation Promotion Awards from GIPC, ASSOCHAM, IPPO, IPTSE-FICCI, BSE-SKOCH , IEI,ICC and CEO of the Year 2019 for bringing a turnaround in NRDC.
